unfairness in the world(guitar audition)

Hi guys,

Another week in acjc came and went like a breeze. Many things took place, some of which will forever leave a deep scar in me. Yes, that is how bad things have turned in acjc due to just one audition.

Like what I told every one that I wanted to join the guitar ensemble, I really went for the audition on Wednesday. About 70 people went to the audition. We were held in the waiting room where we waited for our turn to be interviewed. After two hours, it was finally my turn to be interviewed. I was unlucky enough to be interviewed by the vice-president, she was accompanied by another J2 senior who was much cuter.

The audition consisted of mainly two parts, oral test and personality test and here it goes:

Vice president: now i will play two notes, you will tell me which is of higher pitch.
I could not really catch what she was saying as there were at least 5 other interviews going on in the room so I asked the question again.

Me: so u want me to tell you which note you played was of higher semitone?
Vice-president:(stunned)

She gave me a look as though she did not know what is a "semitone"

Vice-president: Just tell me which is of higher pitch.

By now she had already start to express her dissatisfaction.

She then kept playing the first note for many times.

Feeling very agitated, I questioned- Sorry but arh, may I know if you are still on the first note?

By now I could tell that she had had enough of me, she passed the guitar to the j2 senior who was much cuter and asked her to continue the test.

The cuter senior then completed the test with me and started with the personality test based on my interview form.

cuter girl- So you have a music background then you should be able to read notes very quickly.
Me- Yes, it should not be a problem for me.

There is this question on the form which asked you to rate your interest in this cca from 1-10 and i gave it a 8.

cuter girl- May i know why you put 8, such an interesting number unlike others?

I wanted to humour her and made the atmosphere more relaxing so I said- Hmmm I guess its due to chinese supersitition.

the cuter girl initially did not get my joke however when she did, she gave a sweet laughter while the vice-president glared at me with the biggest and angriest eyes I have ever seen, even bigger than my sec4 PE teacher(you know who).

cuter girl- ahaha.......ok I guess thats the end of the interview we will call you if you are selected.

As you all know by now, I did not make it. I was the only one who did not make it among all my friends who went to the interview( not to mention, there were many of them). Just because I offended someone with power in the cca, I was stamped with the word failure. I was crushed by this girl/woman. She took away my dreams of learning the guitar. To make matters worse, she left me in a junction where I have no idea which route take. I had made plans of joining the guitar ensemble even before getting into acjc. Many a times when I was typing this post I had the utmost urge of using every cruel word in my dictionary to describe the vice-president.

It was indeed a immense price to be paid just to learnt this lesson. Like it or not, there will always be people in this world that are more powerful and control your destiny the only thing you can do is to change your destiny if you do not wish to suffer such a fate. Well I definitely will not bow down to this wretchful fate of mine and to all you all out there who is going through the same thing as I, I wish you all the best and may you succeed in changing your fate.

Orientation

Yo guyz,

It has been a while since I update you all on my recent happenings and I apologise for that. Well, orientation has been fun in acjc. Just as I expected it was a haven of chio bus. It was a place that any guy would like to belong in. However it was quite difficult for me to socialise with them as they were high-class chio bus. I will definitely have to pick up quickly on how to do so or else I would not be able to make full use of my time there(lol).

My first day there was not a particularly enjoyable one as I was accustomed to a whole new type of culture, one which I was hardly familar with and had lost touch with for almost 12 years. I was once again accepted into the lord's embrace. People there were warmth towards one another as they were strong believers in his lord. Being a buddhist there made me felt different. They have moring devotions everyday and morning chapels during every monday morning. However as the days got by I began to feel at home and that this was where I rightfully belong to. Every morning while people prayed, they pray for one another's safety. People there were selfless and they cared for one another. They were also very grateful for the little things that they have everyday.

The last day of orientation was especially crazy. We were supposed to perform our mass dance. Instead everyone started to line up and run around like trains. It made the whole atmosphere looked as if it was a countdown party. Lessons will be commencing soon and I am looking forward to it as it will be a whole new journey of taking in more knowledge, knowledge which cannot be bought but only acclaimed with sheer hardwork, tenacity, passion and integrity.

Thats all for now catch up with you guys very soon. Before I forget I want to give my thanks to my magnificent OG maximus and my three wonderful OGLs eileen, kelvyn and xin yue.
